When Marc Secara, ‘the singer who can fly with his voice’ (RBB,) sings some of the most beautiful songs of all time with his first-class band, you can rightly trust that the evening will be one thing above all: A very fine romance.
The masterpieces of a composing world star take centre stage: Jerome Kern. His songs have been sung by the greats of showbiz, his global hits belong in the eternal repertoire of the music world.
Jerome Kern won Oscars and Grammys and, with more than 700 songs used in over 100 stage works, is considered one of the most important American theatre composers of the early 20th century and also the ‘father of the musical’.
‘Smoke Gets In Your Eyes’, “The Way You Look Tonight”, “A Fine Romance”, “Ol'Man River”, “All The Things You Are” - when Marc Secara lets Jerome Kern run through his throat, the audience can look forward to a romantic and rousing show by the gifted singer with his Berlin all-star band.
‘Let's fall in love! This is the show (and the singer!) for that. Fantastic music and songwriting art, it's romantic and exciting in so many ways and especially today, our world needs much more romance, harmony and love!’ says Gayle Tufts, who is directing the event.
